I had been following Elly for a few years on social media, observing her journey and listening to everything Elly was sharing. Retreats have always intrigued me, however I had never before taken the leap to do one — especially across the world internationally solo.

At this time in my life I was a very lost, shell of a human going through the complete unimaginable. Things for me were tough to say the least and I looked forward to resetting, relaxing and essentially escaping reality with a little dabble in some inner work — which I was ready for; at least I thought.

Arriving at the retreat in Sri Lanka, I was greeted with warmth, understanding, intrigued eyes and a feeling of mutual respect — not only from Elly but from the women that surrounded me. Over the next week, transformation took place. Whatever Elly put in the itinerary for us undoubtedly impacted my future. Period.

There were times of uncomfortable vulnerability, deep inner reflection, bringing feelings and moments to the surface, sharing things amongst one another you'd never thought you'd share with complete strangers, moments where you had to step out of comfort to grow and moments of complete united sisterhood — something I never intended to get out of my time at the retreat.

I remember moments throughout the week after a session of breathwork or meditation where I would reflect and journal and write "what actually just happened?"… but now I know — this kind of stuff is where the magic happens. It's where you release, where you grow, where you feel lighter and where you change.

Leaving the retreat I explained to Elly that I received something different to what I thought I was signing up for. But I truly believe and now know, that's the gold in all of this — the universe gives us what we need, not what we necessarily want. I can wholeheartedly say my time at the retreat changed me as a woman.

The sisterhood you develop amongst the other ladies at the retreat is unlike anything I've ever experienced. I still keep in contact regularly with some of the girls — we have a deep understanding of one another and friendships I know I'll have for life. And Elly as a facilitator — wow. You truly feel heard, respected and validated. She pushes you so you get the most out of what you came for. She is all time.

I'm now in love with the process of self development. I have more confidence in myself and my decisions than I ever have, and I'm in love with my life more than I ever was. Wholeheartedly I know the start of this for me was my time in Sri Lanka with Elly and the girls.

If you're thinking about doing this — book it. You will not regret it. The best investment you can ever make is in yourself, and I'm so glad I started with this. Thank you El x

The retreat honestly changed my life — I know it's a big statement to make but I went in not really knowing a lot about it. I just woke up one morning, saw it online and thought "I'm going to do that," and I wasn't really prepared for what it involved.

It was a sisterhood, a truly grounding experience that allowed me to see myself through a different lens. The uncomfortable moments allowed me to propel forward and open up in ways I didn't think were possible in such a safe space.

Elly's aura is something you have to experience to fully be able to understand. The friendships that were held and formed in the space provided on the retreat are honestly something so hard to describe because it was mostly a feeling. A feeling of safety, comfort, healing and a true feeling of knowing what it is to be right on time and right where you are meant to be.

I wasn't someone who practised self love or the "woo woo" stuff often — I consider myself a regular ol' shift working girl who is just doing her best to understand herself in a world where it's sometimes difficult to. It truly opened my eyes to a world where I realised I'm not alone; there's others out there who think and feel deeply like I do.

The experience I got to share with these girls and Elly is something I can truly recommend and wish I could experience all over again for the first time. I'm truly forever grateful for it. Six months later, writing this with a big smile, I still think about it and can still feel that feeling.

I cannot speak highly enough of the retreat I had the pleasure of attending in Sri Lanka with Elly. I was searching for some guidance, connection and healing in my life. Things were not going the way I had planned and something needed to change. I just so happened to see that Elly was hosting a women's retreat which was offering exactly this, so I thought — why not, what have I got to lose?

I got exactly what I needed and so much more.

I didn't know anyone when I arrived but the amazing sisterhood that was created made me feel so comfortable to be completely myself. Everything I got to learn about myself, the incredible workshops we did, and the amazing women around me — I will cherish, always.

I have amazing tools that I apply in my life daily and I have incredible friendships. It has changed my life forever and in the best way possible.

If you have ever thought about or considering doing a retreat, all I can say is — you will not regret it! It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and if you have the chance, do it. You have everything to gain!
